​"Jewel Unique" Milliken is an award- winning, certified Make-Up Artist and Small Business Owner currently based out of Raleigh, NC. 
 
Born in New Bern, NC, Jewel fell in love with makeup at the age of 11 and would later make it her passion. 
 
Jewel holds a degree in Psychology from Elizabeth City State University, she was inducted into the Psi Chi National Honor Society of Psychology and became a member of the Delta Chi chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Incorporated. In her 29 years of experience, Jewel has studied the art of beauty from the inside and out. After being self-taught in makeup for 13 years, Jewel pursued her passion in 2010 at Sephora and made what was once a dream into her reality. She attended Sephora University in both New York and San Francisco numerous of times.  Ms. Jewel has a long record of success collaborating with various luxury brands such as Dior, Chanel, Bobbi Brown, Tom Ford, Fenty, Yves Saint Laurent and many more.  Milliken’s areas of expertise in beauty grew her career quickly with Sephora in which she was certified as a Beauty Expert, Skin Care Expert, Temptu Airbrush Makeup Expert and the Sephora University Beauty Class Facilitator. Her proudest accomplishment within Sephora was the promotion to Senior Artist of the district where she trained and developed makeup artists. Jewel at the entrepreneur level continues to offer numerous classes including Beauty Basics 101 and Skin Care Basics to name a few. 

 Jewel is an honoree of Who's Who of Raleigh/Durham as well as Perfectly Imperfect Incorporated “Extraordinary Woman” led by councilwoman Brandi N. Matthews of Goldsboro, NC District 4. Jewel has been featured in Black Raleigh/Durham who who’s magazine and currently “In Mind Magazine”. Her unapparelled professional artistry led her to be featured in two different shows within one year as the Master Makeup Artist for Raleigh’s RAW Artist Talent showcase to display her talent in makeup artistry as well as special effects makeup.  

Her exceptionally loyal clientele, personal referrals and repeat business form the foundation of Jewel’s career.  As the master esthetician and master makeup artist for Canvas The Makeup Studio of 11 years she ensures efficient, complete service to all clients for any occasion or event. Offering seamless assistance to every industry professional, she has currently served as an active Board member on the Cosmetology and Esthetics program at Wake Technical Community College for 4 years current to this day. She takes pride in advising, teaching and giving back to the program. In addition to being an expert in her field Jewel has been a judge for the NC State Fair and Skills USA State Competitions for 4 years in the category of beauty and esthetics. Her proven goal is to keep inspiring, teaching and giving back to the industry and the community.  Her major community service projects are “SWAG” Sisters Who Adore GOD. Adopt a Highway in Raleigh, NC where Canvas the Makeup Studio with the collaboration of community volunteers work towards keeping her designated highway clean and safe.

Her social and networking achievements include Artistry of Excellence organization created by Jewel to be the voice for the beauty and aesthetic industry. The birth of this vision created an annual award show to award beauty professionals in aesthetic categories only. Current member of the Presidential Volunteer Service Award. Member of the Raleigh Chamber of Commerce and Launch Raleigh an entrepreneur program. Her latest business venture is Lux Studio Suites, luxury studio suite rentals for small esthetics business owners to provide services to their clientele in a sophisticated and luxury environment.
